I have had important hikes. They are all important, but some are more so. A hike is like a little lifetime. It’s like a lot of little lifetimes rolled into one, really. All the mother nature illustrations apply, and the planning, and then looking ahead but not really knowing what’s up there. Then, when you get to some place you were heading, you look back at where you were. Then the hike is over.
