Creating vs. Art is an Interesting Conversation
Creators and artists might be two different animals.
A content creator is focused on the viewer of the content and is trying to predict what viewers want to see. They have goals, such as the number of items they will produce in a specific time frame and how many views they want to get from each of those releases in that time frame.
Artists are doing something else. “It’s not about you”. Artists are observing the world and then employing a process to interpret it.
As for me, the way I describe this process is that I want to figure out what I’m trying to tell myself. I understand that the subconscious part of ourselves is gathering data that our conscious minds are overlooking or avoiding.
If you've read me, you know "it's not about you.” It’s really not at all about you, unless, of course, you can get something out of it. In which case, I’d love to know about that in the comments.
Maybe, if you have a moment or find it valuable, you can share my Substack page with others. My song is coming out in less than a couple of weeks, and I really want to hear what people think about it.
I also want to know if you think my articles, poetry, and short prose are any good. I’ve been going through my many folders of stuff and reposting a lot of my thoughts on TV and propaganda, which is a subject that’s been on people’s minds lately. That’s an example of how our subconscious works. It makes us seem prophetic sometimes, even when it’s really just obvious. We may be a lot more on the same page than we think.
I’m doing the thing where if you recommend me for others to ’stack, you can get a free paid ’stack. Then you can hear my music. Otherwise, you will not hear it unless you pay for it. There are almost zero exceptions to this, and they are top secret (ha).
Self-promotion and marketing are not everyone's forte, and certainly not mine. I think it’s corny, so my asks are also corny and ironic in nature, which makes people not take me seriously. Maybe we just have to ask for people to be nice and share. I don’t use social media, so if you’re really nice, you can share this post for me there as well.
Tell them I’m “esteemed” and “notable”.
For Art,
“Commercial” Herschel Sterling
I totally get what you’re trying to do and I’m down. We are definitely more on the same page than we think
