You might remember Mitchell’s Mission from last year, it is in my top five favorites, for sure. Mitchell is grown a little now, and as a probationary employee of the Federal Govt, he just lost his job. It’s a beautiful thing for Americans on the one hand. On the other hand, he’s nonetheless, unleashed upon the population. Will he learn a valid skill and become potentially valuable, or just use his “special” skill set in some other way?

Mitchell received his notification that he would be terminated, since he was still in his probationary period, from his new job with the “protection services” in the Federal Government. Because he was still in the probation phase of his duties, he doesn’t get a buy out. He didn’t even know what his assignments would be. He was still being trained and doing a lot of paperwork and office work.
He’s very disappointed, because he knows he’d be able to entrap some suckers to do some stupid crimes for him to bust. Then he could get promoted, and maybe even have a budget! He was so looking forward to getting in there and proving how well he could infiltrate communities and meddle in the lives of everyday people who are trying to improve their lives and participate in their society.
One of his favorite new things to learn was “profiling.” He thinks the people who do that work are fascinating, and he wishes he could get the training to do that. They get to decide things about people. Such as if they can be deemed a threat that needs tracking, or better yet, to be targeted. He knows so many people he’d love to target. He learned exactly the right things to tell the profilers about someone to perk their ears and get people looked at.
Nobody has good intentions when they do anything, and Mitchell knows that, and so do the profilers. If someone is trying to do something to improve a situation, they are probably up to something. No one really believes in freedom of the rights guaranteed in our constitution. That’s just a fairy tale. Everyone knows that.
Mitchell is especially disappointed for his new fate, because he was just about to train on a target. Some poor, unsuspecting guy has no idea that he’s a case study for new field workers. One after another, the newbies get their initiation dunking on him. This is how they learn compartmentalization. As he moves around, different studies have to follow instructions for a larger scope of work they’re not privy to. If everyone follows instructions properly, there is an intended result. If even one of them miss their goal, the end cannot be accomplished.
Mitchell’s hanging out at his sweet apartment paid for by the taxpayers, and he receives a call from his recruiter, the same teacher that introduced him to “The Company” as they like to call it. “Hey Mitchell, I’m sorry for the bad news, but there is a silver lining. Give my contact a call, I’ll card you the details over text, He works for a large corporate interest, and he can get you working a lot sooner than the Government anyway.” Mitchell pumps his fist.
